Chakras - the energy centres of the body
"The outer and the inner
are not opposed.
They are movements of
the same energy,
two banks of the same river,
and the river cannot flow
with only one bank.

The human body consists of a subtle network of channels through which energy is circulating.
There ar seven centres - ckakras - which coordinate
this continuous flow of energy.

Muladhara, the root chakra
Located at the base of the spine,
between the anus and the genital.

Is the centre for basic instincts
like self preservation and survival,
and governs feelings like fear, panic and courage.


Swadhisthana, the sex chakra
Located on the upper side of the genitals,
for women at the point of the clitoris
and for men at the base of the penis.
Is the centre for instinctual energies
like hunger, thirst, sleep, sexual impulse
social sensitivity and desire for pleasure.

Manipura, the navel chakra
Located in the navel.

Is the centre for your personality, the feeling of "I"
and governs self-confidence, will power,
power of action, enthusiasm and optimism.

Anahata, the heart chakra
Located in the chest.
Is the centre for the manifestation of your soul
and governs emotions like love, self-sacrifice, generosity, tenderness and kindness.

serenity and radiant joy.
The individual involved
experiences a blissful,
tension-free state,
a loss of ego boundaries
and an absolute sense of
oneness with nature, with the cosmic order, and with God.

Vishuddha, the neck chakra
Located in the neck.

Is the centre for your spiritual ambition
and governs intuition, artistic creativity
and the feeling of mystery.

Ajna, the mental chakra
Located in the forhead ("the third eye").
Is the centre for mental resonance
and governs powers like telepathy, clairvoyance, capacity for foreseeing the future.

Sahasrara, the crown chakra
Located at the top of the head.

Is the centre for resonances with the highest levels of this universe, uncomprehensible to human consciousness but reachable in the state of ecstasy.
